Resilient Power Puerto Rico
Solar energy grids create security, reliability and resiliency against future natural disasters and other threats. Resilient Power Puerto Rico (RPPR) worked with community groups to deliver critical services and develop a decentralized energy network/grid to create redundancy in the island’s power systems.
Energy analysts and urban planners from Insight Civil volunteered with RPPR to respond to the urgent need for power in Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria. Staff from Insight Civil coordinated donations of free inverters, modules, batteries, cables, and connectors to build small-scale solar arrays in storm-ravaged communities across the island of Puerto Rico. From calling manufacturers and suppliers of system components to lending a hand with pallets and loading trucks, Insight Civil staff supported colleagues at RPPR on this important initiative.
