Marine Inspection Design Engineering Services
Insight Civil is supporting JACOBS | CH2M with phased permitting and construction documents for the rehabilitation of the Dumbo Waterfront in Brooklyn, NY as part of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Waterfront Structures project. Waterfront structures in Brooklyn Bridge Park have been subject to routine structural inspections of pier, wharf and bulkhead elements since the opening of the park in 2004, followed by rehabilitation designs and repairs. The project limit of repairs includes all waterfront structural elements between Atlantic Avenue and Jay Street, just north of the Manhattan Bridge. This reach of the shoreline along the East River comprises most of the Dumbo Waterfront, including the Main Street shoreline, John Street shoreline, Jay Street Bulkhead surface spall repairs, and the Jay Street Connector.
JACOBS | CH2M and Insight Civil will create a set of permit drawings in accordance with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) / Army Corps of Engineers joint application format for the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy (BBPC). These drawings will contain existing plans, details and cross sections as well as drawings of proposed repairs, details and cross sections for each waterfront segment within the project limit. The content of the drawings will be prepared as part of the final construction documents plan set which will be submitted jointly to the NYSDEC and US Army Corps of Engineers for permit approval. Insight Civil will produce a set of “for construction” drawings for the project, along with interim progress submissions requested by the client and JACOBS | CH2M for review. Insight Civil will provide check sets of drawings throughout the drawing development process. BBPC requires that 30%, 60% and 90% drawings be submitted for review followed by 100% drawings.
