Grand Central Terminal Station Master's Office
Insight Civil is supporting Gannett Fleming Engineers and Architects, P.C. for architectural and engineering services required for design and related work for multiple spaces within Grand Central Terminal. Insight Civil’s engineering team is responsible for performing existing conditions review, and traffic engineering in connection with build-out of the new Madison Garage Storage space. This work includes analysis of a functional pick-up/drop-off area for deliveries.
This traffic engineering analysis is part of schematic design and based on preliminary schematic layouts through 100% construction documents for the bid package. The 30% design development of the Madison Garage Storage Space includes three (3) alternate schematics that show the locations of pick-up/drop-off areas and their functional relationships. The Madison Garage Storage Space includes approximately 3,000 square feet of sub-divided space for use by various MTA/MNR departments.
Insight Civil engineers analyzed associated ramps/paths of egress, and design and bid drawings included sidewalk upgrades to allow for safe and functional vehicular circulation in the pick-up/drop-off area and pedestrian access. Insight Civil’s Principal Engineer, Michelle Ryckman, PE, LEED AP, led coordination efforts with architectural and MEP design teams. All design recommendations meet ADA requirements and applicable Federal Transportation Administration standards.
